The Gift of Rest (A Love Letter to the Tired, the Frustrated and the Disenchanted)

Soft, gentle. The gift of rest.

You feel tired.

You feel easily frustrated.

You feel “off.”

You might just need to rest, dear one.

You feel envy at the success of others.

Your own goals seem far, far away.

You’ve lost hope in your ability to reach them.

You might just need to rest, dear one.

You long for joy.

You long for fun.

You seem to have misplaced them both.

It might be time to rest, dear one.

You’re tired of striving.

You sometimes struggle to make it through the work week, hanging on to Friday’s promise.

But you do it, one day at a time.

You might still need to rest, dear one.

You find solace in stillness.

You pull out your journal, your paints or your camera and create.

You give yourself the gift of time that’s free of expectations or obligations, whether it’s a day, an afternoon or a month.

You discover your form of rest, dear one.

You connect with the land, the trees and the birds.

You connect with the people you love, those who make you laugh, those with whom you feel safe being you.

You connect with your pain and discomfort through a lens of self-compassion and self-care, opening the door to joy once again.

You connect with your Source.

You experience the gifts of rest, dear one.

Give yourself the gift of rest, dear one.
