It’s finding abundance in the most simple things: basic ingredients for a healthy supper, uncut fabric, dirt, a camera, a crayon, a thought. A feeling. It’s the happy medium between haves & have-nots, finding joy in both. It’s taking a little and making something that’s more.

Living a creative life is a philosophy, a way of thinking, not a label, an education, or a profession. Living creatively is knowing the rules and occasionally – or more often – ignoring them. It’s coloring outside the lines and sometimes on walls. It’s daring to be different when everyone tells you to be the same.

I get that question a lot. It’s because what you see on the surface is only the moderately polished, impressive, take-no-prisoners creative expression that I choose to share with you. It’s not smoke & mirrors – it’s just a matter of priorities.

Are You Fear.less or Fear.full? I’m afraid of potentials, of could-bes, of worst-case-scenarios. Sometimes I’m so poisoned by fear that I can’t pick up the phone to talk to my own family, or finish a grad school application, or buy a child seat for my bike so that lola can take a ride. Fear can overwhelm and consume me about the silliest things, things that won’t happen, things that I simply make up.

Growth in Balance :: Mother | Woman the outside world held no appeal. all i wanted slept in my arms, nursed from my breast, and cooed in my ear. before i became a mother, i could not imagine this single-mindedness. this devotion. yet, even as this being grew, i continued to grow: my love, my devotion, my fear, my passion.
