Getting to Know You is your introduction to our new Scoutie Girl contributors. We’ll be running these over the next few weeks. Today, enjoy getting to know more about Tina Jett!
Why do you DIY?
I DIY for the same reason most of us probably do: it’s gratifying to create. To see something go from an idea sparked in your brain at 2:00 in the morning to its physical form brings on a giant sense of accomplishment and pride. I’ve also spent enough time working in offices to know that if I don’t create, and work to make that my living, I’m pretty sure a part of my soul will shrivel up and die. That would not be a pretty sight.
What are you MOST passionate about right now?
Being very conscious of our time on this planet and using it to suck the innards out of life. My personal approach to this is through travel, good food, being observant of the little things, focusing on what’s really important, and constantly learning about the world.
What do you have in common with Scoutie Girl readers?
Trying to find the right balance in mixing the things you have to do with those that you want to do. Being mindful of our impact on the planet and those around us. A drive to pursue what inspires you.
What would Scoutie Girl readers be surprised to know about you?
I don’t know if it’s surprising, but I’m a pretty diverse person. On one hand, I like being in nature, birds chirping, folk and classical music, reading Harry Potter, shopping for antiques, watching romantic comedies, and even once was a sorority girl. On the other, I love some good grunge rock and trip hop, hanging out at pubs, trying not to swear too much, watching explosive action flicks, exploring big cities, and I used to play roller derby. I like to keep people guessing at what I’ll do next, I suppose.
