what i really love about the blog talk crafty to me, is the simplicity of it. it’s an awesome resource whether your a craft do-er or a craft shopper. kelly, the blogger behind talk crafty to me, compiles the best of the crafty webs and delivers them straight to you! here’s what she had to say about why she blogs – oh how i dream of this..
A year and a half ago, my boyfriend and I quit our full-time jobs to go freelance and travel the world. We sold everything we owned including my sewing machine and all my craft supplies. It just wasn’t practical to carry that stuff around with us. As we travelled I started bookmarking sites I liked… ideas and inspiration for projects to try when we found ourselves some place a little more settled. Since that still hasn’t happened, you can imagine how large my bookmarks folder was getting. A some point I decided I should start a blog. Not only is it a great way to organize all those links, but it allows me to share all the amazing things I find with other like-minded people.
and, kelly, how has blogging influenced the way you create?
Unfortunately for me, blogging has become more of a substitute to creating, rather than influencing the way I create. Our nomadic lifestyle doesn’t lend itself very well to crafting. Supplies can be hard to come by and often aren’t practical to travel with. That being said, I’m always on the lookout for way to be crafty as we travel. I visited a great knitting store in Bangkok, took a jewelry making course in Bali, and sometime in the next couple weeks, I’m hoping to take a pottery class here in Costa Rica. Unfortunately stuff like that isn’t always available, but that’s where blogging comes in. TalkCraftyToMe.com is a way for me to get my crafty fix during those times when I’m unable to actually create.
