everyday damask

and i'm sure everyday wouldn't be enough. damask is tugging hard on my stylistic heartstrings these days, especially when it's done unconventionally. each piece of pottery is handthrown in white stoneware clay, causing delightful, subtle variations between pieces. Mare (the artist) tells me the damask designs are from vintage textiles that she reworks in photoshop until she has just the size, contrast and clarity she wants. she then prints the image with iron-rich toner; the image is applied to the to the pottery and fired for a 3rd time to reveal the sepia-toned image. intrigue and interest – it's all there. lead free and food, microwave and dishwasher safe; sizes vary.

[Mare also mentioned that she just purchased a truche glass pendant upon seeing my totally digging post from earlier today - yay! that's the coolest!!]

Indie Artist: Mary Ellen Lavan Howe
