Mobiles are great for decorating parties, events, and even your everyday home. There are so many different ways to make them. But this particular mobile gives you an opportunity to use some leftover fabric pieces that may not be big enough for other projects. Here’s how to make your own!
What you need:
- fabric scraps
- embroidery hoop or other type of round frame
- ceiling hook
If you already happen to have a bunch of fabric scraps of the same width and length lying around (or at least close to it), you can skip this first step. But if you don’t, then you’ll need to start by cutting a bunch of fabric strips in the colors or patterns of your choice. In this case, “a bunch” could mean different things based on how big your hoop or frame is, but I’d say you’ll probably need at least 20 scraps. The ones in the mobile pictured are about an inch thick and about 20 inches long.
The next step is to create a strap that you can use to hang the mobile. Just use one of your fabric scraps and tie it onto opposite ends of your frame. Then start tying the rest of the scraps onto the rest of the frame. Just make sure that there’s an equal amount of scraps on each side of the strap so that it will hang evenly. Once you’ve tied all of the scraps to the frame, make any cuts or adjustments if necessary, then use the strap to hang the mobile onto a ceiling hook or similar hardware. Now you’re ready to just enjoy your new party or home decoration!
