Chopsticks: A Visual & Audio Treat

Chopsticks, by Jessica Anthony and Rodrigo Corral, tells the story of Glory Fleming, a brilliant piano prodigy who loses her mother at a young age, and Frank, the artistic boy who moves in next door. As their love story progresses, Glory becomes unable to play anything but the waltz “Chopsticks,” a series of F and G notes moving closer together and farther apart. A collage of original drawings, objects, text, sounds, and video are used to illustrate the story – and the mystery behind what is really going on in Glory’s mind.

The idea for Chopsticks was born out of Jessica and Rodrigo’s desire to tell a story with multiple medias without losing the fundamental truths which make reading fiction an emotional human experience. There is a print edition of the book available and an accompanying website as well as an app. The digital format of the app will allow you to encounter the lives of characters Frank and Glory, and the additional videos, songs, and digital links help to create a new, immersive novel experience.

Chopsticks is a beatiful, haunting tale of love, loss, and mental illness. Read it. View it. Experience it.
