Fall in Europe

Though it is still hot and sunny outside, Europe – and I guess the whole hemisphere – is preparing for fall. European indie designers have collected their brand new products into one post over their blog, Handmade Europe, here are some of them as a teaser.

As Europe being a multicultural place, there is not one single trend one can follow regarding European designs. For example those living in colder countries like Latvia or Norway, offer a wide variety of felted clothes and accessories. From the central part of Western Europe, like Switzerland and Belgium, simple designs come with a little, often very feminine twist. However, one thing maybe common: colors. Soft colors like pale purple and blue, ivory and beige can be found in most of the designs. Which means from a practical point of view that wherever your browser may take you in Europe, one can find a variety of products in matching colors.

I wanna do Bad Things To You

Bewere

when my husband, daughter and i first moved into a new place, late last summer, i was a little bored. i happened onto a section of my digital cable where i could watch a few series from the beginning for free. i chose some show called true blood.

true blood cup

the reason i watched it was because i vaguely recalled hearing good things about the show but didn’t know much else. two episodes the first night (thought they were okay). three episodes the next night (was starting to get titillated). five episodes the third night (completely captivated).

coffin couch

i caught up to the live shows (late in the second season) within a week. i called my cousin (who, surprisingly watches way more tv than me) and she told me all about her love of true blood and how, little did i know, it was based on a book series (i’m on book 10 of 10, reading it very slowly because the thought of waiting a year for book 11 literally makes me whimper).

true blood glass

it’s been 9 months since my favorite show (dare i say of all time) ended it’s second season and i’ve been busy. i launched a website. i have a few freelance jobs. i’m busy with my tribe.

trueblood shirt

but in 11 days, when my beloved returns to hbo, i’ll make the time for it.

will you?

introducing… ceramic & recycled silver necklaces by elisa shere

ceramic & recycled silver necklaces by elisa shere

elisa shere has just introduced a fabulous new line of ceramic pieces into her line of recycled silver jewelry. when i say this is a perfect marriage, i mean it quite literally. you might recall that elisa’s now husband sold his kiln to buy her engagement ring… but i digress, elisa has a passion for ceramics, just like her husband (she has a passion for him, too!), and these pendants reflect that passion.

she’s incorporated a flower motif , which she says “truly symbolize renewal and spring” into this new collection. she drew these flowers from memory, inspired by dahlias.

i adore how the oxidized recycled silver bezel & chain make the ceramic pieces really pop! the colors are rich and refined which is a lovely juxtaposition against the dark organic backdrop. i had the opportunity to see these up close & personal at art star – love.at.first.sight. i couldn’t keep from touching & turning them in my hand.

hop on over to elisa’s shop to see the full collection, along with elisa’s signature pieces.

today i posed the question on twitter, “maybe some cookies will make it better?” the overwhelming response was “always.”

but @uniformnatural’s response stood out due to a striking avatar, so click click click led me to these beauties.

beautiful things like this can, indeed, make things better too.

i hope you have a beautiful weekend. i’ll catch you back here on monday – unless inspiration strikes sooner.

here’s hoping it does.

btw, if you need some lovely weekend reading, check out this week’s we scout wednesday post for some writing from the scoutie girl community on creative struggles we all face.
