Say Hello to Homemade Pop

homemade pop

so i’m always slightly late with my posts. just ask tara. i don’t mean to be so last minute, it’s kind of my nature and also my time management skills (or lack thereof).

anyways, this time, i have a legitimate reason, having spent most of the night at the hospital with my daughter for asthma related issues (she’s okay!).

so i wake up (with 3 hours of sleep) in a tizzy because i’m not sure what to talk about this week. true blood is finally here as of Sunday but i covered that last week.

i’ve covered lost to death, like here, here and here so i know there’s plenty of other good pop culture stuff happening to talk about, although my mind is a little fuzzy today.

so i decide to login to my scoutie girl email to check out if any recent emails are pop culture related (1 out of 20 are) and i laugh. out loud. to the subject line: ‘say hello to homemade pop’.

pretty confident if you ask me, so i open it up and find not only a great pitch but also an amazing set of products (well deserved confidence)!

Danielle from Homemade Pop (she also has an Etsy shop) wrote more about her line:

I concentrate on original illustrations and prints of everyday & nostalgic random randomness. All drawings are done in fine black ink Pilot pens and Prismacolor markers.

I wanna do Bad Things To You

Bewere

when my husband, daughter and i first moved into a new place, late last summer, i was a little bored. i happened onto a section of my digital cable where i could watch a few series from the beginning for free. i chose some show called true blood.

true blood cup

the reason i watched it was because i vaguely recalled hearing good things about the show but didn’t know much else. two episodes the first night (thought they were okay). three episodes the next night (was starting to get titillated). five episodes the third night (completely captivated).

coffin couch

i caught up to the live shows (late in the second season) within a week. i called my cousin (who, surprisingly watches way more tv than me) and she told me all about her love of true blood and how, little did i know, it was based on a book series (i’m on book 10 of 10, reading it very slowly because the thought of waiting a year for book 11 literally makes me whimper).

true blood glass

it’s been 9 months since my favorite show (dare i say of all time) ended it’s second season and i’ve been busy. i launched a website. i have a few freelance jobs. i’m busy with my tribe.

trueblood shirt

but in 11 days, when my beloved returns to hbo, i’ll make the time for it.

will you?

Goodbye to You

goodbye to you. goodbye to everything i thought i knew. you were the one i loved. the one thing that i tried to hold on to.

cosmic firefly case

tara’s been talking about music this week so it’s only fitting i mention a sappy song i love. incidentally enough, michelle branch’s “goodbye to you” pretty much sums up my feelings on Lost exactly (just minus the lover and insert the show).

lost magnets

the day has come and gone as my beloved lost ended it’s series this past sunday. it was touching, beautiful, frustrating, surprising, lovely and sad. i spent somewhere around 6 hours parked in front of my tv to watch the pre-show, finale and jimmy kimmel special.

lost cookies

the camps are divided on the ending and although i’m still annoyed with a few loose ends, the finale (watched a 3rd time since already) was exactly what fans wanted and needed.

lost sign

what did you think of the finale?

west philadelphia, born & raised on the playground is where i spent most of my days…

I happened on this Fresh Prince inspired toddler shirt on the Louella Press blog a couple of weeks ago. I was pleased as punch to see that they were going to be debuting them at Art Star! As soon as I saw the booth, I grabbed this little lovely off the table. And also purchased a copy of the Philadelphia print (complete with Liberty Bell crack!) below.

It looks like the t-shirt are sold out right now… but you can pick up this great design in paper form right at the Louella Press shop.
