Many of us, myself included, have an infinity for everything old…vintage typewriters, globes, and even books. And within the last couple of years, there has been a real upward swing in the way of using recycled materials to create. So, when I started finding artwork done on old book pages and covers from some of my favorite artists, I was super excited. The old, stained pages are a beautiful contrast to the colorful artwork atop these old treasures. I love this thought of giving new life, and in a sense a new message, to these old, discarded books.

Like a butterfly on my fingers. Sweet, soft-focused photography from Inmost Light reminds me of the amazingly, relaxing weekend I had. It’s so nice to get away from the computer every once in a while and enjoy those little things. Isn’t it?

Have you seen Callie Helen’s work yet? I love her use of black, which I seem to have a thing for after last week’s post. And the movement in her lines…excellent. Visit Callie Helen on etsy to view more of her work.

If you are a fan of artists Shannon Rankin and Justin Richel, you may already know about their new collaboration project called Intersect. These two artists have been together for almost 8 years now, and this is the first time they have officially collaborated on a project. It all started with an invitation from Artstream to participate in a show called It Takes Two – Partners in Art, which is currently on exhibit. And from there, the two decided to open the Intersect shop.

Each piece is made with gouache painted elements and then arranged and adhered to black paper. Visit Intersect to view the entire collection of prints and original works. And enter to win your own Intersect print from Shannon and Justin on my blog right here.

Sublime paintings and prints from Clare Elsaesser of Tastes Orangey. Clare is a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her paintings have a real serene quality to them and by keeping the background vague, the viewer is able to focus on the subject in the foreground. This piece, Leaving Oregon, is my absolute favorite.
