Why do you DIY?
Creating a life and a living on my own terms gives my life a clarity, a purpose and a direction that a 9-5 job just could never offer. I make my living from the things I create, and I make the things I create my life. I hear so many people say things like: 2 more hours and I can go home and live my real life. I’ve always looked at every minute of the day as my life, whether I am working, dreaming, painting, marketing, designing or walking on a trail in the early morning. DIY is all about walking hand in hand with my life and my art.
What are you MOST passionate about right now?
Identity and how it relates to our work and how it relates to what we create; as well as, unveiling and revealing a true identity that extends to both the creative self and the personal self. I believe we are who we are more deeply and more brilliantly and more openly when we come from that place of knowing self, and when we speak up and speak the truth about what we know and what we have experienced to get where we are today. When we share our stories and others get to experience them, we learn from each other and we teach each other about who we are in this time and place in the world, and I love that so very very much it sometimes makes me feel teary and giggly all at the same time.
What do you have in common with Scoutie Girl readers?
I am a seeker, a questioner, a creative entrepreneur and a network builder. I seek community and I seek to create community that is focused on creative endeavors, ideas, relationships and supporting like-minded souls who dream up ideas and then make them real. In our world today we have endless and constant contact with a larger world, and it’s the voices for good, the voices who want to inspire, and the voices who are working for community who I seek out, and many of those voices are right here at Scoutie Girl.
What would Scoutie Girl readers be surprised to know about you?
I have lived and worked in four different countries, I eat all my vegetables, except turnips, and I twirl my hair endlessly when talking on the phone.
