I completely agree with this. I feel like you are combining the problem of PERCEPTION with the problem of COURAGE. I often have great ideas and I know if I acted on them I would succeed. But I PERCEIVE that others won’t like them (overthink) or I lack the COURAGE to follow through.

Then the ideas lose their beauty to me and I leave them in the dirt. Sad.

Yes, Elizabeth! I have been so guilty of all of this for so long. It’s hard but I’m trying to learn to stop talking myself out of things this year, with hopefully more of the same in 2011. I’m so glad that you liked the article!

Fabulous comparison! Epiphanies should always come that way – during simple moments like that. You are right – you can’t sit on the floor, being silent, watching everyone else do what you are dying to do & expect things to happen for you. That is a great thing to remember as we head into a new year. Good motivation! Thank you!

I was locked out of my bathroom this morning, tried for a while to use the little thing they give you to open it from outside. I had given up and called the locksmith until I read your article. I went right back upstairs and tried again, just tried again but thinking more this time. When I finally got the door to open I was so happy, not just cause I just saved 50 bucks but because of what you said…It felt empowering. Thanks!
