amen sisters! my closest friends/inner circle know what i really accomplish day in and day out….but the fringe of my acquaintances and family have no idea. they think i’m drawing a pretty picture here and there and dabbling on the computer to make a secondary income for my family. YEAH RIGHT!! i have a business! i make as much (and some weeks a lot more) than my awesome, hardworking husband with his “steady” job.
that’s ok to me in a way though. naysayers make my drive for success even stronger. YOU GO GIRLS!

Fabulous…I totally support your effort and coming along for the ride :) I believe we can do what we love and make a comfortable living as well. Not only that I think it’s time we change the culture and mindset of people who don’t understand we are building businesses and we are professionals!

Preach on sisters! Best of luck to you. I’m riding the same wave so I can’t wait to hear what you are up to! and learn from you!

Megan & Tara- I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that the points you make really hit home. It’s so important to help people understand the value of our work. My dad is a doctor and still asks me how my “arts and crafts” are going. Ugh! Listening to you two is inspiring! You’ve given me a lot to think about. Thank you!

    I’m with you!!

I especially loved the phrase “all boats rise in the tide.” I’ve never heard anyone put it quite that way, and I am always saying a similar idea.

I’m one of those girls-who-makes-jewelry-in-her-basement (garage is too cold haha), and I just wanted to tell you that this is one of the most inspirational, well thought-out videos I’ve seen on the topic of micro-businesses :) I currently am able to eek out a living (albeit a very small one) with just my silversmithing, for which I am incredibly grateful, but I am always looking towards the future and trying to grow.

I’m going to have to go look at Megan’s site now hehe.

    Awesome discussion :)

Tara, I love everything you have to say! And I must add, you are one of my favorite bloggers of all time, and I absolutely love this online community of creative minds. I really liked your video regarding monetary value and an empire and I do believe that we should re-enter our money into homemade crafts and keep this community growing. Thank you so much for the great advice!
