What gorgeous rugs… I can’t decide… what a great post. There was a local rugmaker here that I am still trying to track down… handspun wool that was woven into fat lush rugs… yum.

I had NO idea you could get rugs on Etsy. These are fab. Off to search for more! Thanks Tara.

P.S. Is Lara a popular name among your readers or what?

Number six made my heart skip a beat, too! This is such a fantastic series–thank you for encouraging folks to think handmade before big box.

I had the pleasure of packing up a handmade rug by Lydia Smith the other week. Lydia’s part of Part Time Studios in Philly and starting her own business Sweet Weave. (see a little post here http://parttimestudios.com/2010/03/24/sweet-weave/ ) Seeing the rugs in person, wow, they’re fantastic. Handmade rugs are out there! Check out Claudia Mills and Meg Little too.

Love ‘em! I’ve been a fan of handmade rugs. Five Forty is on my favorite etsy sellers… These rugs are usually runner-like, and would be perfect to cover the hardwood floor on the side of the bed!
